GREENWOOD, IN- The Manchester University men's cross country team earned the team title at the 12-squad Franklin Invitational on Saturday. The Spartans held off second place Wilmington in the standings.
Manchester University’s Alex Gudeman (Rochester, Ind./H.S.) claimed his first collegiate individual title at the meet. Gudeman’s time of 27:17.08 defeated the field by nearly eight full seconds.
Hanover's Joe Rector (Aurora, Ind./South Dearborn) placed second overall at the meet, earning a time of 27:25.3. The Panthers finished fourth in the standings.
Anderson University finished third as a team at the meet. Sophomore Calen Bruner (Greenville, Ohio/H.S.) led the Ravens with a fifth place finish in the individual standings (27:54.7).
Franklin (5th), Defiance (8th), Transylvania (9th), Mount St. Joseph (11th), and Earlham (12th) round out the standings.
This weekend is a light schedule for the conference schools. Anderson and Franklin will compete at the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational, while Transylvania will run at Centre.
