Softball Report (Week 2) - Transy Captures Bronze Division NFCA Classic Title

GREENWOOD, IN- Transylvania capped off a successful trip to Panama City, Florida earning the championship of the Bronze Division in the NFCA Lead-Off Classic.  The Pioneers defeated Denison 9-1 and No. 4 Lynchburg 13-5 to win the title.

In TU's 9-1 win over Denison, Kendra DeArk (Jeffersonville, Ind./H.S.) pitched the first four innings, allowing three hits and no runs.  Michelle Ladanyi (Winchester, Ky./Clark Co.) and Megan Mitchell (Buck Creek, Ind./William Henry Harrison) eached hit home runs for the Pioneers and combined to drive in six of Transy's nine runs.

Transy pounded Lynchburg pitching for 15 hits in the 13-5 win, including home runs by Mitchell and Kaitlyn Kallenborn (Marshallville, Ohio/Smithville) and a pair of doubles by Ladanyi. Mitchell finished with four RBI to lead the offensive effort.

Ladanyi earned all-tournament honors for her performance over the six-game event.

Transy (6-4, 0-0 HCAC) finished in Panama City with a 4-2 record and will continue their Spring Break trip through Florida on Wednesday.  The Pioneers open play in Kissimmee, Florida against Rutgers-Newark and Wisconsin-River Falls.
