Softball Report (Week 2) - Manchester Opens Season with 4-0 Record

GREENWOOD, IN- Manchester College's softball team got off to a fast start, posting a perfect 4-0 record during their first week of play.  The Spartans (4-0, 0-0 HCAC) earned a pair of victories against Centre and Oberlin over the weekend.

Junior Kayla Yates (Delphi, Ind./H.S.) led the offensive attack during the weekend's action, leading the black and gold with a .500 batting average in 12 at-bats.  Yates scored six runs and added three doubles, six RBI, and a .750 slugging percentage.

On the mound, senior pitcher Erica Bush (Greenwood, Ind./H.S.) posted a pair of victories to begin the season at 2-0.  Bush tossed a pair of complete games, allowing 12 hits and notching 11 strikeouts in 14.0 innings of work.

The Spartans open their home schedule Wednesday afternoon against DePauw and begin a 12-game Florida trip Sunday afternoon in Clermont.
