GREENWOOD, IN- The 2011 softball season is in full swing as six of the nine HCAC squads have hit the diamond. Bluffton University is off to the best start in the league, holding a 4-0 record after the first week of action.
The Beavers (4-0, 0-0 HCAC) are currently on a spring trip in Kissimmee, Florida and have six more games this week before returning home to northern Ohio. Bluffton has posted wins over Marietta, Misericordia, Bridgewater, and Mitchell during the first two days of play.
Sophomore Ashley Manusos (Spring Grove, Ill./McHenry East) has started all four games for BU and is batting .357 on the young season. The sophomore has added three doubles and three runs scored to pace the offense.
On the mound, sophomore pitcher Stevie Cuttitta (Columbiaville, Ohio/Clio) has been the rock of the staff. Cuttitta stands 2-0 on the season with a pair of complete games and has an ERA of 0.44 with 18 strike outs.
The Beavers continue play in Florida tomorrow with a pair of contests and will wrap up the trip with games on Thursday and Friday.
