Softball Report (Week 7) - Transy Sweeps Anderson for HCAC Control

GREENWOOD, IN- Transylvania earned a very important sweep over Anderson in conference play last week.  With the sweep of the Ravens, the Pioneers now hold control in the race for the conference championship and right to host the conference postseason tournament.

In a 4-3 game one win over AU, the Pioneers received a three-run home run in the third inning off the bat of Jessica Pierce (LaGrange, Ky./Oldham Co.).  Pierce finished the game 1-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored.

Senior Olivia Wall (El Campo, Tex./H.S.) earned the victory in the circle, tossing six innings with nine strikeouts and three hits allowed.

The Pioneers completed the sweep with a 2-1 win in game two.  TU jumped out early with a single run in the first and second innings.  Pierce provided her fourth RBI of the day in the first inning, reaching on a fielder's choice with the bases loaded.

Senior pitcher Kendra DeArk (Jeffersonville, Ind./H.S.) earned her sixth win of the season, tossing a complete-game five-hitter with six strikeouts.

Transy (18-11-1, 11-1 HCAC) has rattled off 11-straight wins since suffering a 6-4 loss to Capital on March 28.

The Pioneers can clinch the conference's top seed and right to host the league tournament with a sweep of Defiance Saturday afternoon.
