GREENWOOD, IN- Manchester College posted a 5-0 record last week and has stretched its win streak to six consecutive games. The Spartans (7-4, 0-0 HCAC) swept Albion at home and won their first three games down in Florida, defeating Babson, Oneonta State, and New Paltz State.
Freshman Emily Willmann (Montpelier, Ind./Blackford) led the black and gold during the week, finishing 6-for-10 (.600) at the plate with five runs scored and three RBI. Willmann was 4-for-4 against Oneonta State with two runs and two RBI.
On the mound, Freshman Maureen Lund (Huntington, Ind./Huntington North ) went 3-0 on the week, earning wins over Babson, Albion, and New Paltz State. Lund struck out 22 batters and gave up only nine hits in three games with no earned runs allowed.
She struck out all three batters in the seventh inning to hold on to a 4-3 win over Babson and picked up a 1-0 shutout win over Albion on Wednesday. Lund capped off the week with a 6-0 win over New Paltz State, allowing only one hit in the victory.
Manchester will continue its Florida trip this week with seven games on the schedule.
