Softball Report (Week 4) - Anderson Opens HCAC Play with Hanover Sweep
GREENWOOD, IN- Anderson University finished the week with a 3-3 record during a six game road trip. The Ravens (9-8, 2-0 HCAC) stepped out of conference to face Alma and nationally ranked DePauw and opened the HCAC schedule against Hanover.
Anderson earned a split against Alma and lost a pair of contests to DePauw. AU got off on the right foot in league play, posting a pair of wins over Hanover.
Freshman Samantha Steele (Middlebury, Ind./Northridge) led the Ravens offense during the week, finishing 12-of-19 (.632) at the plate with three runs scored and seven stolen bases.
The outfielder was 5-of-8 against Alma, 5-of-6 against No. 7 DePauw, and 2-of-5 in the HCAC opener against Hanover.
Senior pitcher Monica Crowe (Muncie, Ind./Wes-Del) finished the week 2-1 on the mound for the Ravens. Crowe earned wins over Alma and Hanover and posted a 1.56 earned run average in 18 innings of work. She tossed three complete games and a shutout, allowing 15 hits, with four runs, and 12 strikeouts.
Crowe's only loss was a 3-2 decision to No. 7 DePauw on March 21.
Anderson is set to host Defiance and Hiram this weekend.
