Softball Report (Week 7) - Bluffton Sweeps Rival Defiance in HCAC Showdown

GREENWOOD, IN- Bluffton University hit the diamond only twice last week, but came away with a sweep of rival Defiance College.  The Beavers (18-12, 6-2 HCAC) earned an 8-7 win and a 10-7 triumph on the road and currently stand two games behind first place Anderson in the loss column.

BU's Shelby Wade (Delaware, Ohio/Buckeye Valley) led the Beavers offense during the week.  The junior outfielder finished 6-for-8 (.750) at the plate with four runs scored, three RBI, two doubles, and four stolen bases.

The Beavers have won four straight, including wins in eight of their past 10 contests. 

Bluffton will play host to Anderson Tuesday afternoon in an important HCAC doubleheader.  The Ravens (21-10, 10-0 HCAC) can clinch the top seed in the upcoming conference tournament with a sweep of the Beavers.

BU will also be in action on Saturday at home against Rose-Hulman.
