GREENWOOD, IN- The Bluffton University softball team capped off its 10-game Florida trip with a 3-3 record last week. Following a three game losing skid, the Beavers (7-3, 0-0 HCAC) ran off wins over Thomas More, Presentation, and Aurora.
Sophomore Katie Clark (New Palestine, Ind./H.S.) led the Beavers during the week, finishing 13-for-27 (.481) at the plate with nine runs scored, four doubles, one triple, one home run, and 10 RBI.
Senior outfielder Shelby Wade (Delaware, Ohio/Buckeye Valley) tied the school single-game record with four stolen bases in a win over Geneva last Monday.
In the circle, junior pitcher Kayla Owens (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) went 3-1 to lead the Beavers' rotation. Owens finished the week with a phenomenal 0.74 earned run average while holding opponents to a .215 batting average. Owens tossed 19.0 innings and allowed just two earned runs with six strikeouts in her four appearances.
The BU offense currently leads the HCAC in runs scored (62), hits (87), RBI (58), doubles (25), triples (3), and home runs (6)
The Beavers are set to face Adrian and Alma in a pair of doubleheaders this weekend.
