Softball Report (Week 1) - Bluffton Opens Florida Trip 4-0

GREENWOOD, IN- The 2013 softball season is in full swing as six of the nine HCAC squads have hit the diamond.  Bluffton began its trip to Kissimmee, Florida with a 4-0 record Sunday and Monday.

The Beavers (4-0, 0-0 HCAC) kicked off the 10-game trip with wins over Illinois College, Beloit, Concordia (IL), and Geneva.

Sophomore Ariana Muffo (New Athens, Ill./H.S.) has led the Beavers during the trip, batting 10-for-12 (.833) with six runs scored, four doubles, a home run, and nine RBI, while posting a slugging percentage of 1.417.

On the mound, sophomore pitcher Chloe Shell (Covington, Ohio/H.S.) has gone 2-0, tossing two complete games and one shutout in two starts. Shell tossed a complete game two-hitter against Illinois College in an 8-0 win and currently has four strikeouts in 12.0 innings of work.

The Beavers will play six more contests down in Florida before returning home over the weekend.
