Megan Mitchell, Transylvania University, Softball (Hitter)
Transylvania University’s Megan Mitchell (W. Lafayette, Ind./William Henry Harrison) led the Pioneers to a 4-0 record last week to clinch the HCAC title and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball Hitter of the Week for the second time.
The sophomore infielder finished the week 8-of-10 (.800) with seven runs scored, four home runs, 12 RBI, and a 2.000 slugging percentage.
Mitchell has 16 home runs on the year, which is one short of a Transy record, and has blasted 33 home runs in her short career.
Transy (22-11-1, 15-1 HCAC) claimed the top seed in the upcoming HCAC tournament and will face Defiance in the opening contest Friday.
