Women's Basketball Report (Week 9) - Transylvania Takes Over Top Spot in HCAC


GREENWOOD, IN - Transylvania University (11-5, 6-2 HCAC) took advantage of Franklin's two losses and posted two wins during the week to take over first place in the standings.  The Pioneers have now won four straight since suffering two losses over winter break. 

Transy defeated Mount St. Joseph 79-71 and Manchester 56-48 on the road.  Olivia Akridge (Eddyville, Ky./Lyon Co.) scored 22 points and Brittany Henderlight (Versailles, Ky./Woodford Co.) added 20 in the win over MSJ as the Pioneers converted 35 of 45 from the free throw line. 

Akridge also led the team in scoring against Manchester, netting 13 points against the Spartans to earn the HCAC Player of the Week award. 

Transylvania will travel to Bluffton Saturday in their only game of the week.
