Franklin to Play at Illinois Wesleyan in NCAA First Round

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Franklin College claimed the HCAC automatic qualifier and will play at host Illinois Wesleyan on Friday, March 5 in the first round of the 2010 NCAA Division III Tournament. The Grizzlies captured the HCAC's bid to the dance with an 80-73 win over Hanover in the championship game.
Franklin, 21-6, will travel to Bloomington, Illinois to face the host Titans (26-1) at 8:00 PM (CST). Illinois Wesleyan defeated Elmhurst 82-72 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin championship game, earning the CCIW's automatic bid. IWU enters the game riding an eight game win streak and ranked No. 3 in the D3hoops.com poll, while the Grizzlies enter NCAA postseason play on a five game winning streak.
The blue and gold are making their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since the 2005-06 season and sixth appearance in school history. Illinois Wesleyan is making its fourth straight NCAA appearance and has won three straight CCIW regular season and tournament titles.
The winner of the Franklin vs. Illinois Wesleyan game will play the winner of the Simpson (22-5) vs. Chicago (19-6) game at 7:00 PM (CST) Saturday, March 6 in Bloomington, Illinois.
Franklin was the only HCAC team selected to the women's tournament this year.
