Women's Basketball Report (Week 9) - Franklin Hands Rival Hanover 1st Loss of Season

GREENWOOD, IN - Franklin College (11-4, 5-3 HCAC) continued its hot play the past month with a pair of league wins last week.  The Grizzlies have won seven of their past eight contests after defeating Hanover and Defiance at the Spurlock Center.

The blue and gold did something no one else has all year long, handing Hanover a 63-61 defeat.  Junior guard Sarah Condra (Whiteland, Ind./H.S.) delivered the game winner in the closing seconds to deliver the win for FC.  Condra led the way with a team-high 15 points and six rebounds in the win.

Franklin did not have a letdown on Saturday afternoon as the Grizzlies handed visiting Defiance a 73-60 defeat.  Sophomore center Jessica Prewett (Washington, Ind./H.S.) led a very balanced scoring attack with 12 points and eight rebounds as 10 different players entered the scoring column.  With the win, Franklin moved within two games of first place behind Hanover and currently stands tied for third in the HCAC standings with Manchester.

The Grizzlies will try and continue their march up the standings with two important league tilts this week.  FC closes the first round of the HCAC schedule at Mount St. Joseph Wednesday before opening the second round of league games Saturday against Earlham.

The blue and gold handled Earlham 75-55 in Richmond back in December.
