Women's Basketball Report (Week 13) - Panthers Clinch Top Seed with Win Over EC

GREENWOOD, IN - Hanover College (21-1, 15-1 HCAC) captured the HCAC women's basketball title and set a Hanover single-season record for wins with an 83-47 win over Earlham College Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers locked up the No. 1 seed and right to host the HCAC women's basketball tournament that will be held the last weekend of February.  HC will host the tournament for the first time in school history.

Franklin, Transylvania, and Manchester have also clinched a spot in the six-team tournament field.  Franklin and Transylvania are currently tied for second in the standings with two games to play.  The Grizzlies hold the head-to-head tiebreaker with the Pioneers for the No. 2 seed due to the Grizzlies win over Hanover earlier this winter. 

Defiance, Rose-Hulman, Bluffton, and Mount St. Joseph all remain in the hunt for the No. 5 and 6 seeds.  The Yellow Jackets can clinch a spot in the field with a win over Bluffton or Franklin this week.

Rose-Hulman's remaining schedule includes first place Hanover and Mount St. Joseph, while Bluffton tangles with DC and Earlham.  Mount closes the regular season with Franklin Wednesday night before traveling to Terre Haute Saturday.
