Women's Basketball Report (Week 5) - Transy Evens HCAC Record with Win over Bluffton
GREENWOOD, IN - Transylvania University (4-5, 2-2 HCAC) inched closer to .500 on the season with a pair of wins last week. The Pioneers evened their mark in league play with a 61-56 win over Bluffton and defeated St. Mary-of-the-Woods 78-66 in the opening round of the Pat Deacon Invitational Monday evening.
In Saturday's win over Bluffton, freshman guard Nicole Coffman (Liberty, Ky./Casey Co.) led all scorers with a career-high 20 points and six rebounds.
The Pioneers stormed out early against St. Mary-of-the-Woods Monday night, outscoring the visitors 43-29 in the first half. Freshman forward Alex McKenzie (Midway, Ky./Scott Co.) led the way with 18 points and 11 rebounds, notching her first career double-double.
Transy will face Kenyon in the Pat Deacon Invitational final this afternoon at 2:00 PM. TU will conclude its holiday schedule on the road against Pomona-Pitzer New Years Eve.

No. 15 Franklin College (10-0, 4-0 HCAC) remained perfect on the season with a 51-43 non-league win over Trine Saturday.
Senior guard Sarah Condra (Nineveh, Ind./Whiteland) led the scoring with 18 points and a career-high 15 rebounds, connecting on 14-of-17 from the foul line.
Hanover College (5-1, 3-1 HCAC) and Manchester College (6-3, 3-1 HCAC) remained one game behind first place Franklin in the HCAC standings.
The Panthers were dominant in an 82-59 win over Rose-Hulman Saturday afternoon. Junior guard Katie Brewer (Jamestown, Ind./Western Boone) scored 17 points off the bench to lead HC to the win.
Manchester won its third-straight with a 59-34 win on the road against Mount St. Joseph. Sophomore forward Erynn Meiklejohn (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Concordia) finished the afternoon with 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting and also contributed three rebounds in the win.
