Women's Basketball Report (Week 11) - Franklin Moves to No. 14 After Pair of Wins
GREENWOOD, IN - Franklin College (18-1, 11-1 HCAC) moved up to No. 14 in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25 poll after earning a pair of wins last week. The Grizzlies beat Transylvania and Bluffton to remain in a first place tie with rival Hanover.
Senior guard Sarah Condra (Nineveh, Ind./Whiteland) scored a game-high 26 points and had nine rebounds in the Grizzlies' 67-59 victory at Transylvania Wednesday.
Condra followed that performance with a game-high 15 points and six rebounds as Franklin ended Bluffton's five game win streak with a 60-45 home win.
The Grizzlies have won four in a row since suffering a 39-36 home defeat to Manchester on January 14.
Franklin will play host to Hanover at the Spurlock Center Wednesday night in a huge conference clash. The two schools are tied atop the standings with six games remaining on the schedule. The tip is set for 7:30 PM.
The blue and gold will end the week on the road Saturday against the Manchester squad that handed them their only setback of the season.
In other action...
Hanover College (15-3, 11-1 HCAC) kept pace with Franklin with two wins during the week. The Panthers saw their win streak reach nine-straight after beating Mount St. Joseph and Manchester.
In an 85-54 win over Mount, the Panthers jumped out to a decisive 51-24 lead at the break. Freshman guard Caitlin Bischoff (Atlanta, Ind./Hamilton Heights) led all scorers with 18 points off the bench.
Hanover was impressive once again on Saturday as the Panthers handed Manchester a 63-41 setback. Not one Panther scored in double figures as 12 different players found the scoring column in the win.
The Panthers will travel to Franklin Wednesday evening and return home to host Earlham Saturday.
