GREENWOOD, IN - Franklin College won its sixth straight HCAC contest and ran its win streak to eight in a row following two wins last week. The Grizzlies (14-3, 8-2 HCAC) won at Rose-Hulman and Earlham and remained one game behind Transylvania in the race for a league title.
In Wednesday's 56-39 win at Rose-Hulman, the blue and gold jumped out to a commanding 29-13 lead at the break. Senior guard Lindsay Rich (Logansport, Ind./H.S.) led the scoring with a game-high 17 points.
Franklin capped the week with a dominant 59-36 triumph in Richmond over Earlham. The Grizzlies once again utilized an impressive first half effort, jumping out to a 36-12 advantage at intermission. Sophomore center Lindsey Dall (Brownsburg, Ind./H.S.) paced the scoring with 15 points.
Franklin can pull even in the standings with Transy Wednesday evening when the Pioneers come to the Spurlock Center. FC will close the week on the road against Bluffton Saturday.
In other action...
Transylvania (13-4, 9-1 HCAC) earned two more league wins to remain atop the league standings. The Pioneers have won five straight since suffering their only league loss of the season to Franklin on January 2.
Sophomore guard Nicole Coffman (Liberty, Ky./Casey Co.) tied her career high against Anderson, netting 30 points on 10-of-19 shooting from the field in the 87-61 win. Coffman added 19 points in an 89-56 win at Mount St. Joseph Wednesday evening.
Transy will look to keep its lead in the standings at Franklin and Defiance this week.
Hanover (13-4, 7-3 HCAC) sits two games behind Transy in the standings after earning wins over Anderson and Defiance last week.
Sophomore guard Alicia Hopkins (Columbus, Ind./East) scored 17 points to lead the Panthers to a 79-67 win over Anderson. Hopkins added 14 points and five steals in Saturday's 88-76 win over Defiance.
