GREENWOOD, IN - The Hanover College women's basketball team was busy during the holiday break, traveling to California and Alabama for a pair of tournaments. The Panthers (8-3, 2-2 HCAC) earned a split out west, while notching a pair of victories at the Huntingdon Classic.
Senior forward Courtney Prater (Anderson, Ind./Lapel) led the Panthers during the four game span. Prater had 14 points in an 80-74 win over Mississippi College and added 23 points and six rebounds to help Hanover erase a 28-point second half deficit in an 80-77 win over Centre.
Out in California, Prater posted 25 points and 13 rebounds in a loss at Redlands and added 18 points with five rebounds in a 109-104 win at La Verne.
Hanover will welcome Mount St. Joseph for an HCAC tilt tonight and will face Bluffton Saturday.
In other action...
Franklin College (8-3, 2-2 HCAC) won its only two contests over the break. The Grizzlies won at Wittenberg 49-37 and earned a home win over Benedictine (IL) 54-45.
Sophomore forward Nichole Thompson (Greenwood, Ind./H.S.) scored a game-high 17 points in a substitute role to help Franklin beat Wittenberg. Thompson then tallied 13 points with seven rebounds against Benedictine.
