This year's HCAC tournament will be hosted by Transylvania and held at the University Club of Kentucky in Lexington, Ky. The 5,852 yard par 72 course was designed by Arthur Hills.
Rose-Hulman's Stephanie Harrington (Houston, Tex./Cinco Ranch) looks to defend her individual title this weekend. Harrington fired a two-round total of 162, holding off Transylvania's Janca Millett (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart) by two strokes. Millett holds the conference's best scoring average this fall (78.9) and will look to earn the title away from Harrington. As a team, the Engineers placed fifth last season as Transy claimed the conference title for the first time.
The Pioneers will look to repeat as conference champion, but will have to deal with a Franklin squad that places all five of their golfers among the HCAC scoring leaders. Transy golfers hold the top two spots in scoring average this season with only one other golfer placing in the top 15.
Franklin will try to reclaim the conference crown from the Pioneers after finishing third a year ago. Senior Natalie Daugherty (Vevay, Ind./Switzerland Co.) ranks third with an 82.5 round average, while sophomore Brittany Stephens (Whiteland, Ind./H.S.) has posted a fifth-best 83.2 average.
The top eight finishers after the two rounds are complete will earn All-HCAC honors. The top freshman finisher after Sunday's second round will receive the Freshman of the Year award. Action will get underway Saturday and Sunday morning at 11:00 AM.
