Women's Golf Report (Week 1) - Franklin Paces HCAC Field at AU Invite
GREENWOOD, IN - Franklin College's women's golf team led the seven competing HCAC schools at the Anderson Invitational with a third place finish this past weekend. The Grizzlies finished behind DePauw University and Olivet College in the team standings.
Franklin finished the 36-hole event, held at Killbuck Golf Club, with a two-day score of 650. Natalie Daugherty (Vevay, Ind./Switzerland Co.) led FC with rounds of 78 and 80 to finish seventh among all individuals with a 158.
Hanover's Molly Burpo (Martinsville, Ind./H.S.) was the top HCAC finisher at the event, firing rounds of 80 and a tournament-best 75 to finish third with a 155. The Panthers placed fifth in the nine team event.
Transylvania University finished six shots behind Franklin in the team standings and placed fourth. Sophomore Janca Millett (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart) finished fifth in the individual standings with a two-round total of 157.
Rose-Hulman, Manchester, Anderson, and Defiance rounded out the team standings.
This weekend, all eight conference schools will be competing on the links at the Hanover Invitational on September 12-13.
