Women's Golf Report (Week 4) - Franklin Places Fourth at DePauw Invitational

GREENWOOD, IN - Franklin College finished fourth at the DePauw Small College Classic over the weekend, leading the six competing HCAC schools.  The Grizzlies fired a two-day total of 678 at Deer Creek Golf Club, holding off fifth place Hanover College by two strokes.

Senior Samantha Marshall (Plainfield, Ind./Cascade) led Franklin with a 15th place finish, carding rounds of 88 and 80.  Brittany Brownrigg (Littleton, Colo./Columbine) and Brittany Stephens (Whiteland, Ind./H.S.) finished one shot behind Marshall in 17th position.

Hanover's Paige Schroeder (Jasper, Ind./H.S.) was the highest HCAC finisher, placing 10th among 68 golfers.  The junior fired rounds of 81 and 83 to lead the Panthers to a fifth place finish.

Transylvania (710), Anderson (738), Manchester (760), and Rose-Hulman (766) rounded out the team standings.

Mount St. Joseph and Defiance competed at the one round Capital Fall Invitational on Sunday.  The Lions finished sixth, while Defiance placed eighth in the nine team event. 

This weekend, Defiance will take part in the Heidelberg Invitational on Friday and Saturday, while Mount St. Joseph, Hanover, and Transylvania will play at Centre Saturday.  The action concludes Sunday as Franklin hosts Manchester and Anderson at the Franklin Invitational.
