Women's Golf Report (Week 4) - Franklin Captures HCAC Invitational at Defiance

GREENWOOD, IN - Franklin College held off the field of seven competing HCAC schools at the HCAC Invitational hosted by Defiance College over the weekend.  The Grizzlies held off second place Transylvania by nine strokes at Eagle Rock Golf Club.

Franklin was led by senior Brittany Brownrigg (Littleton, Colo./Columbine), who carded an 80 and earned the medalist honor. Senior teammate Brittany Stephens (Whiteland, Ind./H.S.) was right behind with her 81.

Transylvania placed second overall and was led by senior Megan Foley (Lexington, Ky./Christian).  Foley carded a round of 85 to finish fifth in the individual standings.

Hanover earned a third place finish at the tournament.  Freshman Brooke McKay (Carmel, Ind./H.S.) and junior Becky Roberts (Avon, Ind./H.S.) each shot a round of 88 to place sixth overall.

Anderson, Manchester, Mount St. Joseph, and Defiance rounded out the team standings.

Manchester's Carly Clock (Hartford City, Ind./Blackford) and Mount's Jennifer Trame (Milford, Ohio/H.S.) each placed in the top five, carding a round of 84 for a third place finish.

This weekend will be the final tune up before the HCAC Championship is hosted by Defiance on October 8-9.
