GREENWOOD, IN - Hanover College's women's golf team led the field of six competing HCAC schools at the Anderson Invitational with a first place finish this past weekend. The Panthers held off second place Anderson in the team standings.
Hanover finished the 36-hole event, held at Killbuck Golf Club, with a school record two-day total of 636. Paige Schroeder (Jasper, Ind./H.S.) led HC with rounds of 81 and 74 to earn medalist honors with a 155.
HC freshman Brooke McKay (Carmel, Ind./H.S.) placed second overall, firing rounds of 78 and 79 to finish two strokes off the lead.
Host Anderson earned a second place finish at the tournament. Freshman Krista Zurcher placed fifth overall in the individual standings with a two-round total of 165 in her first collegiate match.
Manchester, Franklin, Defiance, and Rose-Hulman rounded out the team standings.
Earlier in the week, Franklin and Transylvania took part in the NCAA Preview Invitational hosted by Trine University. Franklin placed fifth overall and Transy claimed an eighth place finish at the 12 team event.
Franklin's Brittany Stephens (Whiteland, Ind./H.S.) finished fourth overall with rounds of 80 and 75, while Transy's Megan Foley (Lexington, Ky./Christian) finished 10th (161) to lead the Pioneers.
This weekend, five conference schools will be competing on the links at the Hanover Invitational on September 10-11.
