GREENWOOD, IN - Hanover College earned the title at the Transylvania Invitational last Friday and won the Anderson Invitational over the weekend. The Panthers held off host Transy to earn the title at TU and beat DePauw by a single stroke at Anderson.
Freshman Ellen Wuerch (Fortville, Ind./Mt. Vernon) finished second at Transy with a round of 81. Transy's Tiara Harris (Maysville, Ky./Mason Co.) led the Pioneers with a sixth place finish after carding a round of 85.
As a team, Hanover totaled 340, while Transylvania finished with a 365.
Over the weekend, Anderson University played host to the AU Invitational at Killbuck Golf Course. Four HCAC schools took part in the 36-hole event, with Hanover leading the way with a first place finish.
Hanover’s Erika Shepherd (Jeffersonville, Ind./H.S.) earned medalist honors at the Anderson Fall Invitational. The sophomore tied two school records at the meet, matching Hanover’s 18-hole and 36-hole records. Shepherd carded rounds of 76 and 72 for a total score of 148.
Rose-Hulman finished third in the team standings with a total of 661. Sophomore Peem Chanrotchanaphan (Chiang Mai, Thailand/Grace International) finished second overall with a performance that established two new school records. Chanrotchanaphan fired a round of 74 on Saturday for a new 18-hole school record. She fired an 80 for a two-day score of 154 that ranks as a school record for 36-hole tournament performance.
Anderson finished fourth in the standings over the weekend while Defiance placed fifth.
This weekend, all eight conference squads will be competing on the links at the Hanover Invitational September 6-7.
