Transy Women Top Hanover for HCAC Soccer Tourney Title

HANOVER, IN - Transylvania University upended host Hanover, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon to pick up the school's second HCAC women's soccer tournament championship.  The fourth-seeded Pioneers (13-6-1) earn the school's second trip to the NCAA Division III women's soccer tournament since 2006 with the win. 

The Pioneers set the tone throughout the afternoon, out-shooting the Panthers 10-5 during the match.  In the game's 17th minute Katie Kelly (Lexington, Ky./Lafayette) found the back of the net on an assist from Whitney Price (Marietta, Ohio/H.S.) to give Transy a 1-0 lead.  Price scored the game's second goal early in the second half to hand TU a 2-0 advantage.  

Transylvania junior goalkeeper Cori Hickman (Newark, Ohio/H.S.) turned in an impressive effort, recording her seventh shutout of the season and notching a save in the winning cause. 

The Pioneers will learn their first opponent in the NCAA tournament on Monday. The tournament is scheduled to begin on Nov. 12.
