Women's Soccer Report (Week 3) - Transy Begins Conference Play with 2-1 Win Over Rose
GREENWOOD, IN - Transylvania openend the Heartland schedule with a 2-1 home victory over Rose-Hulman Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers boast the league's top record, standing 4-1-1 overall this season.
Senior Whitney Price (Marietta, Ohio/H.S.) made her first goal this season count, providing the game-winner in the 81st minute against the Engineers. The goal earned her the conference's Player of the Week honors. Kristin Tenhundfeld (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) provided the game's first goal, scoring in the 14th minute from 35 yards out.
Mount St. Joseph continuted its hot play, posting a 2-1 win at Case Western Reserve and playing Capital to a 1-1 tie. Freshman midfielder Jessica Pykosz (Milford, Ohio/H.S.) scored two goals on the week, providing the game-winner against Case Western and the tying goal against Capital.
Hanover dropped its first two games of the 2009 season. The Panthers fell to Centre 3-0 and lost a tough overtime contest at home against Capital, 1-0.
The Bluffton women's soccer team earned its fourth win on the young season, moving to 4-2 overall with a 3-0 blanking of Thiel.
