Transy Women's Soccer to Meet Lynchburg in NCAA Opener

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Transylvania will travel to Emory on Saturday to open play in the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship, taking on Lynchburg at 1:30 PM.
Transy (16-3-1) shared the Heartland Conference regular season championship and earned the HCAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament by winning the HCAC tourney with a 2-0 decision over Earlham.
Ranked No. 6 in the Great Lakes Region, Transy got its second straight bid to the NCAA Division III Championship. It is Transy's third appearance in the NCAA tournament overall.
Lynchburg (17-2-2) received the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's automatic bid. The Hornets are ranked third in the South Atlantic Region. They defeated Virginia Wesleyan in a shoot-out in the finals of the ODAC tournament to advance to NCAA play.
Lynchburg is ranked 20th in the NSCAA national poll. Host Emory is No. 7.
The winner of the Transy-Lynchburg match will meet the Emory-Maryville (Tenn.) victor on Sunday at a time to be announced. Emory is 14-1-3 while Maryville brings a record of 13-5-1 into first-round play.
In last year's tournament, Transy lost a 2-0 decision in first-round play to Denison in a match played at Otterbein.
