Women's Soccer Report (Week 4) - Hanover Downs Rose 3-1 in HCAC Opener
GREENWOOD, IN - Preseason favorite Hanover College opened the conference season with a 3-1 road win over Rose-Hulman Saturday. The Panthers (4-4-1, 1-0 HCAC) moved back to .500 overall this season with the win and also played to a 1-1 tie at Thomas More during the week.
Junior Abbey Schmahl (Aurora, Ind./South Dearborn) scored the Panthers' only goal in the 1-1 tie with Thomas More, finding the back of the net in the 58th minute.
Olivia Selm (Zionsville, Ind./H.S.) led the way in the 3-1 win over the Engineers. The junior forward scored the game's first goal in the fifth minute and added another late in the second half to secure the win.
Transylvania continued its solid play with a 1-0-1 record last week. The Pioneers have fallen out of the NSCAA Top 25 poll, but are currently ranked No. 4 in the Great Lakes Region.
Freshman midfielder Abby Felthaus (Florence, Ky./St. Henry) scored a goal in each game this week as Transy tied Maryville (TN) 2-2 and beat Manchester 5-0 in the HCAC opener.
In other conference action last week...Mount St. Joseph opened with a 1-0 win at home over Bluffton, while Defiance handed Anderson a 2-1 defeat.
