FRANKLIN, IN – Assistant coach Justin Sullivan has been promoted to head coach of the Franklin College’s women’s soccer team, Director of Athletics Kerry Prather announced today.
Sullivan, who had been serving as an assistant for the both the FC women’s and men’s programs the previous five seasons, succeeds Scott Moulton, who is retiring after guiding the Grizzlies for four seasons.
“I’m obviously excited about this opportunity,” said Sullivan. “The potential here is very good for success in our conference and potentially in the region and in the nation. I think we have a great base here because of the leadership Coach Moulton brought over the last four years.”
Prather said Sullivan has demonstrated his recruiting and coaching abilities. “Justin has done outstanding work for our soccer programs, and he is well prepared to assume the leadership of the women’s team. We look forward to continuing the positive trends in both roster growth and competitiveness.”
Sullivan helped guide the Grizzly women’s soccer program to its most successful season in the fall of 2011, and likewise for the Franklin men’s team under head coach Shaun Mahoney the preceding autumn.
He played at University of Indianapolis, where he was a four-year starter and letter winner, graduating in 2008 with a degree in marketing. Sullivan captained the Greyhounds in his final two seasons. An Indianapolis native, he grew up playing club soccer at Dynamo Katner FC and Academy Soccer Club.
In addition to his position with FC, Sullivan coaches club soccer at Westside United FC and is currently the head coach of the 93 Girls Green Team, 96 Boys Green Team, and assistant coach of the 93 Boys Green Team, the 2008 2009, and 2010 Indiana State Cup Champions.
Sullivan was a member of the Indiana ODP staff, where he worked with the U-13 age group. Sullivan holds a United States Soccer Federation C license, a USSF National Youth License, and is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
