Women's Soccer Report (Week 1) - Earlham Opens Season with 2-0 Weekend

GREENWOOD, IN - The Earlham College women's soccer team pulled out a pair of home wins last week to begin the season 2-0.  The Quakers stand alongside Hanover and Transylvania as the only unbeaten squads in the conference after the opening week of play.

Earlham opened the campaign with a narrow 2-1 win over Capital and closed the weekend with a 3-1 triumph over Millikin.

In the win over Capital, senior forward Ryder Comstock (Yellow Springs, Ohio/H.S.) scored both goals for the Quakers.

Comstock added another goal against Millikin to close out the week and earn HCAC Player of the Week honors.

Earlham stands No. 10 in the latest NSCAA/Adidas Great Lakes Regional Rankings.  Hanover College stands No. 4 in the poll, while Transylvania is No. 8.

Preseason conference favorite Hanover College opened the campaign with two road wins over the weekend.  The Panthers pulled out a 1-0 win over Kenyon and beat Denison 2-1 Sunday.

Transylvania University posted a pair of shutout wins at the Centre College Tournament, handling Marietta (3-0) and John Carroll (2-0). Junior Anne Marie Dumaine (California, Ky./Campbell Co.) led the defensive effort as the Transy defense allowed just 15 total shots, 11 on goal, without a score.
