Women's Tennis Report (Week 4) - RHIT Earns 1st HCAC Women's Tennis Title

GREENWOOD, IN - The Rose-Hulman women's tennis team won its first conference championship in program history, capturing the HCAC title with wins over Franklin and Hanover Saturday.  The Engineers finished the regular season 8-0 in conference matches.

Rose will be the top seed in the HCAC Tournament on October 15 and face the No. 4 seed in the semifinals.  Manchester and Hanover will complete their suspended match on October 9, which will help determine the final spot in the AQ tournament.  Manchester holds a 4-0 lead over the Panthers in the suspended match and will clinch the final spot in the tournament field with a win.

Transylvania (7-1, 7-1 HCAC) finished second in the league standings and will have the No. 2 seed in the upcoming conference tournament.  The Pioneers will face No. 3 seed Franklin (7-2, 6-2 HCAC) at 9:00 AM on October 15 in the other semifinal match up.

The 2010 HCAC AQ Tournament will be held at the West Indy Racquet Club in Indianapolis with the winner receiving the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championships in May.

This week features non-conference matches leading up to the HCAC Individual Flight Tournament that will be held on October 9-10 at West Indy Racquet Club in Indianapolis.  The top eight HCAC squads will compete as an individual champion will be crowned at each singles and doubles position.
