Women's Tennis Report (Week 4) - Hanover Wins Fourth Straight Match

GREENWOOD, IN - Hanover College won its third and fourth straight matches this week, earning a pair of important league wins. The Panthers (4-1, 3-1 HCAC) blanked Bluffton 5-0 and squeaked by Manchester 5-4 over the weekend.
Senior Heather Washburn (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) earned a win in singles action in each victory.
Playing in the No. 3 slot, she swept Bluffton's Kelly Helton 6-0, 6-0 in the Panthers' 5-0 win against the Beavers. The senior also defeated Manchester's Alli Heeter 6-2, 7-6 (2) to lift Hanover to a 5-4 win against the Spartans.
Hanover will face Mount St. Joseph and Rose-Hulman at home this week.
Franklin College remained atop the HCAC standings with a 9-0 win over Defiance. The Grizzlies (4-1, 3-0 HCAC) have also won four straight matches and will travel to Bluffton and Manchester this weekend.
Rose-Hulman and Transylvania met on the courts in Terre Haute with the Engineers pulling out a tight 5-4 win. Rose (6-2, 4-1 HCAC) sits second in the league standings, while the Pioneers (4-1, 3-1 HCAC) sit alongside Hanover for third place.
RHIT's Paige Cook (Terre Haute, Ind./North Vigo) led the Engineers over the Pioneers and against Mount during the week. The sophomore finished 2-0 at the No. 5 singles position and teamed with Marie Stettler for a 2-0 doubles mark.
Rose also defeated Mount St. Joseph 8-1 on Sunday in league action.
