Women's Track & Field Report (Week 4) - Franklin Places 8th at Indiana Little State Meet

GREENWOOD, IN - Franklin College placed eighth among 19 schools at the highly competitive Indiana Little State meet, scoring 32.5 points to lead all HCAC squads.  Manchester was the next HCAC finisher, placing 11th overall.  The 2010 meet was held at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana.

Franklin's Heather Waterman (Shelbyville, Ind./Morristown) finished second in both the 1,500-meter run (4:41.12) and the 5,000-meter run (18:34.12) to lead the Grizzlies' effort.  Senior Kristi Brown (Muncie, Ind./Southside) also marked a top-three finish, placing third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (12:03.42).

Manchester earned 19.5 points at the meet and was led by Kailey Honn (Westfield, Ind./H.S.) and Jessi Bremer (Howe, Ind./Prairie Heights).  Honn took first place in the high jump, clearing 5' 5.75" to rank her top five nationally this outdoor season.  Bremer finished fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.21.

Anderson finished 15th in the standings and earned eight points.  Sophomore Candace DeLong (Frankton, Ind./H.S.) earned all eight points with a second-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:55.74.

Hanover placed 17th at the meet, while Rose-Hulman did not compete in the two-day event.

Defiance College competed at the Adrian All-American Invitational this past Saturday.  Ashlyn Howell (Fenton, Mich./Lake Fenton) set a new top mark in the conference this outdoor season in the triple jump, placing second at the meet with a leap of 34' 5".

In other action last week, Bluffton and Mount St. Joseph competed at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational.  The Beavers placed 14th out of 15 schools, while the Lions finished in 15th position.

This weekend's schedule showcases all nine HCAC institutions.  Bluffton, Defiance, and Mount St. Joseph will take part in the All-Ohio Championships Saturday afternoon, while Rose-Hulman will host Franklin and Hanover at the Rose-Hulman Twilight Friday evening.
