Women's Track & Field Report (Week 5) - Rose Places 4th at Rose-Hulman Twilight
GREENWOOD, IN - Rose-Hulman led all HCAC schools at the Rose-Hulman Twilight meet last weekend, placing fourth at the 10 team event. The Engineers tallied 70.5 points at the meet, edging fifth place Franklin by 2.5 points and sixth place Hanover by 6.5 points.
Rose-Hulman's Creasy Clauser (Crawfordsville, Ind./Southmont) paced the effort with a school record performance in the 800-meter run, winning the event in a time of 2:17.49. Her time also marked the best time in the HCAC this outdoor season.
Freshman Tonya Colonna (Brecksville, Ohio/H.S.) and Liz Evans (Bicknell, Ind./North Knox) led the women's field event effort with first place honors. Colonna cleared 10' 0" to win the pole vault, while Evans cleared 5' 6" to win the high jump.
Franklin took first place in one event and posted seven top-five individual finishes at the Rose-Hulman Twilight meet. FC’s lone top finish was produced by junior Heather Waterman (Shelbyville, Ind./Morristown), who won the 3,000-meter run in a Cook Stadium record time of 10:14.65.
Hanover was led by a record setting performance by freshman Lexi Vincz (Greenfield, Ind./H.S.). Vincz shattered the Hanover school record in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing second in the event with a time of 1:06.01. Her effort shattered the previous mark of 1:10.54 set by Tisha Pletcher in 1995.
Defiance, Bluffton, and Mount St. Joseph competed at the All-Ohio Championships held on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University Saturday. The Yellow Jackets and Lions placed 17th among the 19 schools, while Bluffton finished 19th.
In other action last week, Manchester, Anderson, and Transylvania were in action but did not post team scores.
This weekend's schedule showcases eight HCAC institutions. Bluffton, Franklin, Mount St. Joseph, and Transylvania will compete at the Wilmington Invitational, while Anderson, Defiance, Manchester, and Rose-Hulman will compete at different meets.
