Women's Indoor T&F Report (Week 6) - Spartans Place 3rd at Fred Wilt Memorial Invite

GREENWOOD, IN - Anderson University played host to the nine-team Fred Wilt Memorial Indoor Invitational this past weekend.  Manchester College placed third in the women's standings to lead the six competing HCAC institutions.  DePauw won the meet with Centre placing second.

The Manchester women’s team continued its upward trend with wins at the meet by Casey Loshe (Decatur, Ind./Adams Central) in the high jump (5" 1.75"), Jessi Bremer (Howe, Ind./Prairie Heights) in the 800-meter run (2:18.65) and Megan Miller (Goshen, Ind./Northridge) in the mile (5:18.38). 

Defiance placed fourth overall at the meet and was led by Kaitlin Switzer (Defiance, Ohio/H.S.) in the 1,000-meter run.  Switzer set a new school record in the event with a time of 3:15.61, breaking her previous mark by 1.20 seconds.

Franklin College’s Kerri Kinker (Greensburg, Ind./Batesville) broke the FC school record in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.23, which also stands as the second fastest mark in the HCAC this season. Kinker also placed second in the 200-meter dash with a personal best mark of 27.59 seconds at the meet.  The Grizzlies finished sixth as a team among the nine schools.

Earlham College’s Ramona Hemmings (Cleveland, Ohio/Shaw) won a pair of events while setting a new school record.  The senior won the women’s triple jump with a distance of 35’ 7.5” to establish a new Earlham College record and earned first place in the long jump with a mark of 15’ 10.5”.  Hemmings led the Quakers to a seventh place finish.

Host Anderson placed fifth overall in the standings, while Mount St. Joseph earned an eighth place finish.

This weekend's schedule will be the final tune up before the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 11-12 in Columbus, Ohio.
