Women's Outdoor T&F Report (Week 5) - Manchester Places 2nd at MC Outdoor Classic
GREENWOOD, IN - The Manchester College women's outdoor track and field team posted their top finish this outdoor season with a second place showing at the Manchester Outdoor Classic. The Spartans led three HCAC schools at the meet, placing behind first place Indiana Wesleyan.
Manchester's Megan Miller (Goshen, Ind./Northridge) returned from illness to claim the title in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:56.60. Fellow senior Jessi Bremer (Howe, Ind./Prairie Heights) claimed the title in the 400-meter dash, posting a time of 1:00.76.
The Spartans received one last first place finish as senior Emily Ballinger (Delaware, Ohio/Rutherford B. Hayes) broke the school record in the pole vault (10' 2").
Anderson earned 62 points at the meet and placed fifth among the 11 schools. The Ravens were paced by Alex Friske (McHenry, Ill./H.S.) who notched a first place and third place finish. The freshman earned the title in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.20 and placed third in the high jump with a leap of 1.55 meters.
Earlham finished ninth overall at the meet.
Rose-Hulman welcomed Hanover and Franklin to Terre Haute on Friday evening for the Rose-Hulman Twilight. The Panthers were the top conference school at the meet with a third place finish overall.
HC's Jane Burnell (Speedway, Ind./H.S.) captured first place in two individual events and helped set two school records in a pair of relays at the meet. The freshman captured the title in the 100-meter hurdles (15.68) and the 200-meter dash (26.22), while also helping the 4 X 100-meter (51.33) and 4 X 400-meter relay (4:05.26) squads set new school records.
Host Rose-Hulman placed sixth overall, while Franklin College earned a seventh place finish among the 11 competing schools.
In other action last week, Defiance, Bluffton, and Mount St. Joseph competed at the All-Ohio Championships held on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University. The Yellow Jackets finished 13th overall, while Bluffton and Mount placed 16th and 19th among the 19 schools.
Defiance’s Kim Bingley (Ottawa, Ohio/Ottawa-Glandorf) set the top HCAC mark in the javelin this outdoor season at the meet, placing fourth with a toss of 109’ 11”.
This weekend's schedule will be the final tune up before the HCAC Outdoor Championships at Hanover College on April 29-30.
