Women's Outdoor T&F Report (Week 3) - Hanover Earns Title at Anderson Invitational

GREENWOOD, IN - The Hanover College women's track & field team earned their first victory of the season, claiming the top spot at the Anderson Invitational over the weekend.  The Panthers earned the top spot with 171 points and was followed by Grace at the five-team meet.

Hanover's Andrea Thomas (Brazil, Ind./Northview) posted a win in the pole vault (9' 0.25") and ran a leg of the Panthers’ victorious 4x100-meter relay team. The senior also finished second in the 100-meter dash (13.74).

Four other Panthers earned individual first place finishes at the meet to help Hanover atop the standings.

Anderson finished third overall at the meet, while Earlham College placed fourth.

Franklin College competed in St. Louis at the two-day Washington-St. Louis Invitational.  The Grizzlies finished 19th overall among the 24 schools.

Heather Waterman (Shelbyville, Ind./Morristown) provisionally qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 5,000-meter run at the meet, placing fifth overall in the event with a time of 17:25.55.

Rose-Hulman was also in action and finished seventh at the 12-team DePauw Invitational.  Liz Evans (Bicknell, Ind./North Knox) automatically qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships with the top national mark in the high jump this year, winning the event at DePauw with a leap of 5’ 7.75”.

Manchester and Mount St. Joseph also competed at DePauw, placing 10th and 12th in the standings.

In other action over the weekend, Defiance and Bluffton competed at the DC Yellow Jacket Open Friday afternoon, while Transylvania finished 11th at the Centre Invitational.

This weekend's schedule is highlighted by the Indiana Little State meet on Friday and Saturday at Indiana Wesleyan.
