Women's Outdoor T&F Report (Week 1) - DC Claims 2nd Place Finish at Dick Small Invite

GREENWOOD, IN - The Defiance College women’s track and field team opened the outdoor season by hosting the 2012 Dick Small Invitational Saturday.  The Yellow Jackets finished in second place by picking up 117 points at the event.

Kali George (East Palestine, Ohio/H.S.) and Kim Bingley won events for the Yellow Jackets at the meet.

George won the women’s high jump with a mark of 5' 3". The sophomore also turned in a second place performance in the javelin with a throw of 84' 10", and helped both the 4x100-meter relay and 4x400-meter teams to second place finishes.

Bingley, the defending Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference javelin champion, won the javelin with a toss of 92' 00". She also was a member of the 4x400 relay team and gave the Jackets a third place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.48.

Bluffton was also in action at Defiance, earning a fourth place finish at the six squad event.

Hanover led the HCAC contingent at the Mount St. Joseph Invitational Friday, placing second in the team standings.

HC’s Briahna Chambers (Bell, Texas/Ellison) set a school record at the meet, setting a new mark in the long jump with a first place leap of 5.21 meters.

Transylvania finished fifth, while host Mount placed seventh overall.

Rose-Hulman, Earlham, and Franklin all competed in Terre Haute at the non-scored Rose-Hulman Early Bird Meet.

RHIT’s Creasy Clauser (Crawfordsville, Ind./Southmont) snapped a six-year old school record in the 400-meter dash, capturing first place honors with a time of 58.54. The effort currently ranks No. 6 nationally.

This weekend all 10 HCAC schools will be in action on the track.
