GREENWOOD, IN - Anderson University played host to the AU Invitational Saturday, hosting six HCAC squads at the event. Hanover College earned the team title, holding off host Anderson by 48 points.
Hanover College’s Briahna Chambers (Bell, Texas/Ellison) won the long jump in record fashion. The junior won the event with a school record leap of 5.38 meters, ranking 22nd in the country this indoor season.
Chambers also won the 60-meter dash in 8.06 seconds and anchored HC’s winning 800-meter relay team.
Manchester placed third at the meet and was followed by Transylvania (6th), Earlham (8th), and Mount St. Joseph (9th).
Bluffton, Defiance, and Rose-Hulman were in action at Ohio Northern Saturday. Defiance placed seventh, while Bluffton and Rose finished eighth and ninth place respectively.
Rose-Hulman’s Ryann-Rebecca Montgomery (Lafayette, La./Episcopal Acadiana) set a school record with the 10th fastest 3,000-meter run in the nation so far this indoor season, winning the event with a time of 9:59.38.
Franklin College competed at DePauw Friday evening, earning a second place finish at the six team meet. Sophomore Natavia Howell (Indianapolis, Ind./Howe) broke a school record and won two individual events at the meet. The sophomore had a school record time of 8.24 to win the 60-meter dash and later won the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.56.
This weekend's schedule is the final tune-up prior to the HCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships on February 22 at Anderson.
