DEFIANCE OH – The Defiance women’s track team earned their fourth outdoor track and field title, holding off Hanover by 62.5 points. It was DC’s first women’s HCAC outdoor title since 2003.
The Defiance women’s team won five events on its way to the conference championship. Freshman Micah Wilson (Mims, Fla./Astronaut) won the 100 and 200-meter dashes with times of 12.42 and 25.69 respectively. Senior Kali George (East Palestine, Ohio/H.S.) claimed the title in the javelin with a conference record toss of 38.23 meters. Sophomore Eme Miller (Portland, Ind./Jay Co.) won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:33.29, while Margaret Sarfino (Dayton, Ohio/Kettering Fairmont) took the title in the triple jump (10.82 m).
One other conference record was broken on the women's side. Bluffton’s Terrill Webb (Kenton, Ohio/H.S.) set a new league-best in the women’s pole vault with a leap of 3.51 meters.
Hanover finished second in the women team standings with 123 points with Manchester placing third with 110.5 points. Anderson finished fourth with 104 points and was followed by Franklin (88.5 points), Transylvania (62), Rose-Hulman (41), Bluffton (32), Earlham (30.5), and Mount St. Joseph (No Team Score).
