Women's Outdoor T&F Report - Week 1
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Three Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's outdoor track and field teams traveled to Terre Haute, Ind. last weekend to participate in the Rose-Hulman Early Bird Invitational.
The Fightin' Engineers placed first out of the field of eight teams at the home event. Senior Kally Morozin won the 1500m run with a time of 4:59.97 and added a second place finish in the 800m run (2:29.32) at Early Bird Invite on Saturday.
The Hanover pole vaulters traveled to Terre Haute for the first weekend of the outdoor season. Erin Trimpe reset her own school record and claimed first place honors in the pole vault at the Rose-Hulman Early Bird Invitational. The senior's mark of 3.73 meters is currently the top mark in Division III. In all divisions, Trimpe's mark in the opening weekend of the outdoor season is among the top 40 in the country.
Franklin and Defiance also participated in the Rose-Hulman Early Bird Invitational and placed fifth and seventh, respectively.
The Hanover Panthers women's track and field team traveled to the Margaret Simmons Invitational in Murray, Ky. last week and claimed a fifth place finish out of 11 teams.
Also competing last week were Bluffton and Earlham at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational and the Washington and Lee Carnival, both teams did not post a team score.
Earlham's Ellie Haland turned in a pair of stellar individual performances to open the outdoor season at last weekend's Washington & Lee University Carnival in Lexington, Va. The sophomore won the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 11:45.55, good enough to be ranked fourth among NCAA Division III times in that event.

In the 1500m, Haland finished second with a time of 4:47.18 which ranks eighth in NCAA Division III times. The sophomore also ran the lead leg for Earlham's 4 x 400m relay team, which finished fourth with a time of 4:12.26.
