Bluffton Headed to First NCAA Volleyball Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Committee announced today the field of 62 teams for the 2009 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship, and for the first time in school history Bluffton will take part in the event.
Forty conferences were awarded automatic qualification for the 2009 championship. Three teams were selected from Pool B, which consists of independent institutions and institutions that are members of conferences that do not meet the requirements for automatic qualification. The final 19 berths were reserved for Pool C, which consists of institutions from automatic-qualifying conferences that are not the conference champion and any remaining Pool B teams.
Bluffton University (27-5), the HCAC champion and winners of 17 consecutive matches, will travel to Hope College for regional play. The Beavers open region play against Ohio Northern (27-3).
Heidelberg (27-7), North Central (IL) (34-4), Calvin (27-6), Wittenberg (24-7), Hope (30-3), and Lakeland (Wis.) (23-12) will also take part in the Hope Regional.
