Volleyball Report (Week 3) - Defiance Finishes Second at Marietta Tournament
GREENWOOD, IN - Defiance posted four victories on the week, including a second place finish at the Marietta Tournament on Friday and Saturday. The Jackets marked a 4-2 record on the week and moved to 10-5 overall this season.
Defiance began the week with a 3-1 setback to nationally ranked Heidelberg and rebounded for a 3-0 win against Earlham. The Yellow Jackets began play at Marietta with three-straight 3-0 wins over Carlow, Kenyon, and Ohio Valley before dropping the championship match to host Marietta, 3-0.
Senior outside hitter Danyel Lipps (West Alexandria, Ohio/Twin Valley) earned a spot on the Marietta All-Tournament Team for her efforts.
Bluffton saw its five match win streak and 10 match home court win streak come to a close against No. 5 Ohio Northern. The Beavers dropped a 3-1 decision to the Polar Bears.
Rose-Hulman holds a 9-5 record on the season after a 2-2 mark at DePauw this past weekend. The Engineers defeated Olivet and Kalamazoo, while falling to Heidelberg and Millikin.
Anderson improved to 7-4 with 3-0 wins over Ohio Wesleyan and Earlham. The Ravens lost to Marian 3-1 at home Saturday afternoon.
