Volleyball Report (Week 5) - Mount Runs Win Streak to Seven Straight

GREENWOOD, IN - Mount St. Joseph remained at the top of the HCAC standings with a 2-0 conference mark last week.  The Lions have posted seven straight wins, including 3-0 league victories over Franklin and Earlham.  MSJ now stands 12-6 overall and 3-0 in HCAC action.

Mount began the week with a 3-0 win at home over Franklin and ended the week with a 3-0 sweep at Earlham Saturday.

Junior Kat Roedig (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) led the Mount against Franklin, posting 12 kills and three service aces in the win.  Jamie Grauvogel (Cleves, Ohio/Harrison) added 14 kills and six aces against Earlham.

Bluffton and Defiance also notched a 2-0 HCAC record during last week's action.  The Beavers blanked Manchester 3-0 at Founders Hall before posting a second conference win over Anderson. One of the plays from the Bluffton/Anderson match has been named a finalist for AVCA Play of the Week.

Defiance added a pair of 3-0 sweeps against Earlham and Franklin to move into a four-way tie for second place in the league standings.

In other conference action last week...Anderson earned a 3-1 win over Rose-Hulman. The Engineers rebounded from the loss to the Ravens to defeat Transylvania 3-2.  Transy began the week with a 3-2 victory over Hanover before the loss to RHIT.  Hanover capped off the week with a 3-0 sweep of Manchester.
