Volleyball Report (Week 5) - Transy Moves to 2-0 with Wins over RHIT & HC

GREENWOOD, IN - Transylvania University opened the HCAC schedule with a pair of wins last week.  The Pioneers (12-7, 2-0 HCAC) posted a 3-1 victory over Hanover and a 3-0 sweep of Rose-Hulman to begin the conference campaign.

Transy ended the week with a non-conference loss to Asbury, snapping a four match win streak.

Rebecca Luking (Louisville, Ky./Ballard) set a new school career record for assists over the weekend.  The senior setter had a total of 112 assists, 17 kills, five aces, and 20 digs in the three matches.

Luking came into play Saturday needing 60 assists to tie the old Transy record of 3,025 and contributed 36 against Rose-Hulman, while adding 38 in a 3-1 loss to Asbury. 

Defiance and Mount St. Joseph remained unblemished in HCAC action this fall.  The Jackets (12-9, 3-0 HCAC) and Lions (7-12, 3-0 HCAC) each earned victories over Franklin and Earlham during the week to move to 3-0 in league play.

Rose-Hulman, Bluffton, and Hanover sit with identical 2-1 league marks. 

The Engineers (12-6, 2-1 HCAC) earned a 3-0 sweep of Anderson prior to their loss to Transy.  Rose also fell to Asbury in Lexington Saturday afternoon.

Bluffton (12-7, 2-1 HCAC) ran its win streak to six-straight with 3-0 sweeps of Manchester and Anderson, while Hanover (12-7, 2-1 HCAC) bounced back from a loss to Transy with a 3-1 win over the Spartans.
