HANOVER, IN - The 2011 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball tournament will be held Nov. 5-6 in Collier Arena. The winner of the event will earn the HCAC’s automatic berth in the NCAA III national tournament.
Five teams tied for the Heartland Conference’s regular-season title. After a series of tiebreakers, Hanover earned the top seed in the tournament and will host the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Bluffton University (Ohio) and the College of Mount St. Joseph (Ohio) in the league’s semifinals Saturday, Nov. 5.
The championship match is slated for 1 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 6.

Each of the four squads in the semifinals, along with Transylvania University (Ky.), shared the HCAC’s regular-season title after posting 7-2 records.
Hanover finished the season 19-10 overall and closed the campaign with nine wins in the team’s final 12 matches. The Panthers will face Rose-Hulman in the first semifinal match at 2 p.m.
Rose-Hulman, the No. 5 seed, is 22-8 overall. The Engineers advanced in the tourney with a five-set victory against No. 4 Transylvania in an opening-round match Nov. 1.
Rose-Hulman defeated Hanover 26-24, 25-23, 22-25, 18-25, 15-8, when the teams tangled Oct. 8 in Terre Haute, Ind.
Mount St. Joseph earned the No. 2 seed after posting a 12-18 overall record during the regular season. The Lions will play No. 3 Bluffton in the second semifinal match at 5 p.m.
Bluffton, the No. 3 seed, is 21-10. The Beavers moved into the semifinals with a three-set sweep of No. 6 Defiance in the opening round.
Mount St. Joseph outlasted Bluffton in five sets when the squads met Sept. 21 in Delhi, Ohio.
The NCAA III national tournament will begin with regional action Nov. 11-13. The quarterfinals, semifinals and championship will be held Nov. 18-20 in St. Louis, Mo.
