INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Bluffton University climbs to the top of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's volleyball standings.
The Beavers went 2-1 last week with wins over Mount St. Joseph and Rose-Hulman before taking a 3-0 loss to Hope. Bluffton's Bethany Martini contributed 28 kills on Wednesday in a win over Mount St. Joseph, final kill in the match tallied her 1,000th kill in her career. For the week, the senior totaled 60 kills (5.00 per set) and 26 digs for a .278 hitting percentage.
The Rose-Hulman volleyball team defeated Anderson on Wednesday, and lost to Bluffton and Hope on Saturday to go 1-2 last week. Hitters Marissa Gollnick and Bailey MacInnis led the Fightin' Engineers offensive attack. Gollnick tallied 33 kills in 12 sets while MacInnis added 26 kills for the week. Defensive specialist Katryna Dahlberg added 62 digs for an average of 5.17 digs per set.
Earlham College and Transylvania University sit in a tie for third place in the women's volleyball standings with a 2-1 mark.
The Quakers began last week with a 3-1 road loss at Defiance, but ended it with wins over Franklin and Kalamazoo on Saturday. The Pioneers went 2-0 last week in HCAC play with wins over Hanover and Anderson.
