Franklin College’s Mackenzie Wieneke (Seymour, Ind./H.S.) helped the Grizzlies to a 3-0 record last week and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week on defense for the third time.
The sophomore defensive specialist totaled 68 digs over the three matches, including a season-high 32 digs in a four set win over Albion Saturday. Wieneke added 16 digs in a win over St. Mary’s College and posted 20 digs in a sweep of Earlham in conference play Wednesday evening.
The sophomore currently leads the conference with 386 digs this season as the Grizzlies have won six straight matches.
Franklin (13-6, 2-0 HCAC) will host Thomas More Tuesday night and travel to Bluffton Friday evening.
