Women's Cross Country Report (Week 6) - Franklin Leads HCAC Squads in Terre Haute

GREENWOOD, IN -Franklin College continued to show why they may be the team to beat at the upcoming HCAC Cross Country Championships, placing sixth at the Gibson Family Cross Country Invitational in Terre Haute this past weekend.  The Grizzlies led the three conference schools competing in the 15 team event.

Junior Heather Waterman (Shelbyville, Ind./Morristown) turned in another career-best effort, finishing third overall at the meet.  Waterman finished the 6K course in a career-best time of 23:06 to lead all HCAC runners.

Manchester College placed eighth at the meet.  Jessi Bremer (Howe, Ind./Prairie Heights) led the Spartans effort with a time of 24:03, placing 18th.

Host Rose-Hulman finished 10th among the strong contingent Saturday.  The Engineers received an 11th place finish by senior Melissa Rogers (Crawfordsville, Ind./Southmont).  Rogers crossed the line with a time of 23:37.

The upcoming weekend is the final weekend of action before the HCAC Championships on October 31.  Bluffton, Franklin, Hanover, Mount St. Joseph, Rose-Hulman, and Transylvania will all compete at the Wilmington Fall Classic Friday evening, while Manchester and Anderson will run at the Manchester Invitational Saturday morning.  Defiance will also be in action, running at the Oberlin Invitational Saturday.
